Do you have any sales representatives who could visit my early childhood centre/school?

Yes we do. We have a rep in Sydney, one in Brisbane who visits early childhood centres, and another who visits schools in Queensland. Please contact us to make an appointment for one of our representatives to visit your educational institution.

 

Can you invoice my early childhood centre/school, or do I have to pay for items up front?

We can invoice your early childhood centre/school. (Personal orders, however, require payment up front by credit card, cheque or money order.)

 

Which credit/debit cards do you accept, and when will my card be charged?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Diners.  Your credit card will be charged for the books once all items are located in stock (unless otherwise advised) and as we send them to you. If there are backorders, they will be charged separately.

 

I don’t have a credit/debit card - how can I pay?

Please contact us if you would prefer to pay by cheque, money order (payable to The Book Garden), or with a Book Garden gift voucher. When the payment has been received, your books will be posted to you.

Do you give any discounts?

We give a 10% discount on children’s picture books to educational institutions. One discount, voucher or promotional offer can be applied per order. Discounts do not apply to shipping.

 

Is my personal information kept private?

Yes. At The Book Garden we treat all your personal information as private and confidential. We will not share, rent, or sell any of your personal information without your express consent. For further information, please view our Privacy Statement.

 

Is it safe to use my credit/debit card at thebookgarden.com.au?

We take your security seriously, and can guarantee that online shopping with us is completely safe.
All information entered at thebookgarden.com.au is secured using Secure Sockets Layer software, which uses cutting edge firewall and encryption technology. When entering information, you can check that the software is active by looking for a security padlock on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

 

How much do you charge for delivery?

Delivery charges are as follows:

Regular Australia post
Orders under $200:  $11 delivery
Orders between $200 and $500: $15 delivery
Orders over $500: FREE DELIVERY

Express post
Express post delivery of 1 item:  $14
Express post delivery of 2 or more items (for delivery to a single address): $20

International shipping
If your order is to be delivered to an address outside Australia, a member of The Book Garden team will contact you upon receipt of your order to advise you of freight charges. 

 

Can I order from outside of Australia?

If your order is to be delivered to an address outside Australia, a member of The Book Garden team will contact you upon receipt of your order via email to advise of postage charges to your destination and GST exempt prices.

 

Are all the items on the website currently in stock at The Book Garden?

Not necessarily. 
While we do our best to keep all the items listed on the website in stock, some items may need to be ordered for you from the supplier.  In this situation we will notify you by email, advise you of the expected arrival date and ask if you wish to proceed with the order.  
We will not charge your credit card until items are dispatched.

 

How long will it take for my order to arrive? 

That depends. If the books are in stock, they are dispatched within 24 business hours via Australia Post (you should receive items within 3-5 business days). Orders placed on holidays or weekends will begin processing the next business day.

Once items are lodged with Australia Post The Book Garden cannot be responsible for lost or delayed packages but will endeavour to track orders where possible. If delays are experienced please check in with your local Australia Post office.

By placing an order online, you agree not to hold The Book Garden liable for any loss or damage directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with any delay or failure to deliver within the estimated time frame.

If we have to order the books, it could take 2-3weeks.  If the supplier does not have stock in Australia, it could take up to 3 months.  You will be given an indication of how long your books will take to arrive once you’ve placed your order.

 

What if some items I order are in stock and others aren't?


We will ship those items that are in stock and will advise you by email about the expected arrival of any out of stock items. You can then decide if you wish to wait for the out of stock item to be ordered from the supplier, or if you would prefer to cancel the out of stock items.

Please note that if you have chosen to have your backorders shipped, postage charges apply to the first and all subsequent (backordered) deliveries.

 

I can’t find the book I’m looking for on The Book Garden website - can I still order it?

Absolutely! If it’s still in print we should be able to order it for you – if it isn’t, we can search for second hand copies. If you can't find the book you are chasing please give us a call, or complete our online book enquiry form.


Are the prices on the website accurate?


While we make every effort to ensure that the prices on the website are accurate, occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to vary the website prices.  In these circumstances we will contact you and you can decide if you wish to proceed with the order.

All prices quoted on the website are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of the domestic Australian GST (Goods and Services Tax). The GST is currently set at 10%.

 

Can I return books if I find they’re not suitable?

Yes, but they must be returned within 14 days of receipt of goods, in saleable condition, accompanied by the original sales receipt. CDs and DVDs are exceptions to this rule, and are sold on firm sale.

Can I book for events online? (Brisbane Only)

You can purchase and book a ticket to any Brisbane Book Garden event here at the event tickets page

Select the event that you wish to purchase a ticket for - then proceed to the checkout to complete your order.

We will post you the event tickets if they are purchased at least four business days prior to the event, otherwise your tickets will be available for your collection at the event door.

Please note, event bookings are generally non-refundable.

 

Can I buy a Book Garden gift voucher through the website?


Certainly! Gift vouchers can be purchased to any value and can be used at both the Bookshop and Brisbane Cafe. And we don't require the voucher to be completely spent in a single transaction.  We will adjust your voucher and you can use the difference on a future purchase. Change is not given on purchases made by gift voucher. 
Vouchers can be purchased at the Bookshop or through the secure area of the website.
Please note, Book Garden gift vouchers cannot currently be used to purchase items through the website.

 

Can I give gifts using The Book Garden website?

Sure. We also provide free gift wrapping!

During the checkout process, enter the address you would like to ship to. This address can be the gift recipient or your address.

After selecting your shipping method, click the Do you have any gift items in your order? check box.

If you have multiple items in your shopping cart, you can add a gift message for each individual item.

If you have multiple items in your shopping cart and would like the same message for each item – simply fill out the first gift message only.

Your purchase will be gift wrapped and sent to the shipping address with any gift messages you have added.

 

How can I check my order status and history?

It's easy to manage your orders through your thebookgarden.com.au account.

You can check your open orders and any previous orders you have placed with us. Simply click My Account on top of this page and select My orders to access your order status and history.

 

How do I update my account settings?

You can update your account settings at any time.

Simply click My Account on top of this page, followed by Account dashboard.

To update your E-mail, Password or Account Preferences: click on My Settings within your account main page.

To update your Billing and Shipping addresses: click on Manage Addresses within your account main page.

 

How do I use the wish list feature?

The Wishlist feature is useful if you would like to create a list of books before you add them to your shopping cart. You are able to add notes for each product in your Wishlist.

To use the Wishlist feature you must have an account and be logged in.

To add a product to the Wishlist, click the Add to Wishlist link next to the ADD TO CART button on any product page.

 

How do I manage my address book?

You address book is a saved list of your frequently used shipping addresses.

To manage your Address Book, click My Account at the top of this page.

Click on Address Book within your account to update, delete or add a new shipping address to your address book.
